The SavageMan 30.0 Triathlon Run Course
The SavageMan 30.0 Triathlon run course is a scenic 6.2 mile single loop course that runs along the shores of Deep Creek Lake, through the expansive State Park campgrounds, and along lakeside roads. The run course is one loop of the SavageMan 70.0 Triathlon run course with a slightly shorter loop through the State Park campgrounds.
5 of the 6.2 miles are on paved roads with the remainder on smooth gravel roads.
The SavageMan 30.0 Triathlon Run Course in detail:
The run course exits the south end of the transition area and runs along a well-packed gravel road past the public beach and behind the Deep Creek State Park Discovery Center. Runners then take a right on State Park Rd and quickly left onto Brant Rd. After a turnaround on Brant Rd, runners head into the State Park campgrounds for a shorter loop through the campgrounds than the SavageMan 70.0 Triathlon loop, and then return to State Park Rd.
A two mile jaunt on State Park Rd leads to a 1/4 mile climb up Thayerville Fire Tower Road and a turnaround. Runners return to State Park Rd and down Meadow Mountain Lane and re-enter the State Park past the public boat ramps and along a well-packed gravel road to complete the loop. Upon completion of the single loop runners become a SavageMan at the finish line in the open grassy area along the lake next to transition area.
Aid stations are available every 1 - 1.5 miles with water, energy gel, energy drink, salt tablets, pretzel, and Coke.
