The SavageMan 30.0 Triathlon Bike Course
**All-New SavageMan 30.0 Triathlon Bike Course in 2010. The 2010 bike course eliminates the extreme Frank Brenneman Road climb and introduces stunning new scenery and far quieter roads.
The SavageMan 30.0 Triathlon bike course is a 22.9 mile single loop course that is all new for 2010. While the SavageMan Triathlon 30.0 bike course avoids the plunging descents and heart-pounding climbs of the SavageMan 70.0 Triathlon, the course does give a flavor of the SavageMan experience with beautiful country scenery and undulating roads with a spattering of climbs. A moderately hilly course by most triathlon standards, the SavageMan 30.0 Triathlon bike course provides a less extreme alternative for those desiring a shorter or less savage bike course than the SavageMan 70.0 Triathlon.

The SavageMan 30.0 Triathlon Bike Course has 1850 feet of climbing in 22.9 miles. This is nearly identical to the total climbing of the prior course but eliminates the Toothpick Road and Frank Brenneman Road climbs. Nonetheless, the new course has three challenging climbs and is worthy of the SavageMan name.

**Note: The SavageMan 30.0 Triathlon bike course does not include the Westernport Wall.

** It is of utmost importance that riders ensure their bikes are in good working condition as the SavageMan 30.0 bike course includes very fast descents. There is a mandatory pre-race bike check and athletes whose bikes do not pass inspection will not be permitted to start the SavageMan 30.0 Triathlon.

SavageMan 30.0 Triathlon Bike Course Preview
Athletes exit the transition area in Deep Creek Lake State Park and take a left towards Rock Lodge Road, in the opposite direction of the prior course and the SavageMan 70.0 Triathlon bike course. The SavageMan 30.0 Triathlon bike course is a lollipop loop, so cyclists will be on both sides of the road on State Park Rd and Rock Lodge Rd. A left on Accident-Bittinger Rd leads to a fast, sweeping descent and a gradual, steady climb towards Accident, Md. Another very fast descent leads to a left turn on Brethren Church Rd and some of the most scenic farmland and mountain views that Garrett County has to offer. A right on Aiken-Miller Rd followed by a quick left on Spear Rd continue the stunning views and gentle terrain, until the left turn on Bumblebee Rd yields the second and toughest climb of the day. After summiting Bumblebee, a left turn on Negro Mountain Rd pays off in another fast, sweeping descent until the right turn on Foy Rd culminates the day's climbing with a short, steep pitch. A left turn on Mosser Rd followed by a right on Rock Lodge Rd and the course heads back to the State Park on the mostly flat and downhill Rock Lodge and State Park Roads.

There will be no aid station for riders on the SavageMan 30.0 Triathlon Bike Course.
